I was never really a morning person but at the moment I don’t have a choice. Now that I’m a mom there isn’t much room left for sleeping in or sleeping in general. Nevertheless, I always admired people who get up early and get shit done. And now when I’m doing the same I can see how it changes my mood and mindset for the rest of the day.

There is something so satisfying when you get things done early in the day. However, this post isn’t going to be about becoming a morning person. I’ll write about that some other time. This post is about doing a couple of things when you wake up to make your mornings better instantly. Let’s see what they are! 🙂

6 Ways To Make Your Mornings Better Instantly

Drink water.

(If you’re a Chelsea fan, hello)! We all know that out of all the drinks, water is the best and healthiest choice. If you’re lucky enough to live in a place where you can drink tap water – there’s no excuses. In addition, be grateful for that as well. When you wake up your body is in a light dehydration state. After all, you just went 7 – 9 hours without drinking anything.

Drinking two glasses of water on an empty stomach will help your body flush out toxins. Furthermore, drinking water immediately after waking up improves metabolism and strengthens immune system. Water keeps your skin glowing and your hair healthy and shiny. So try make a habit of drinking water right after you wake up. Swap your usual coffee or OJ for two glasses of water. However, if you can’t drink that much – start small and build up! 🙂

Dress, even if you’re staying at home.

One of the best ways to make the most out of your morning/day is to get ready. And yes, get ready even if you’re staying in the house all day. It might not sound like much but trust me, it works wonders. When you get dressed and ready it makes you feel put together. It completely eliminates the “lazy feeling” and sets you up for a productive day. Think about it – if you’re in your pyjamas or loungewear you’re more likely to procrastinate.

Eat a healthy breakfast.

Eating a good, healthy breakfast is a key start to the day and can do wonders for you. Firstly, you’re doing something great for your body and health. Having a healthy breakfast helps control the appetite, aids in weight loss and boosts immune system.

Secondly, it’s going to keep you fueled and energised. And having more energy means you’re more likely to be productive and focused throughout the day. My last post was a yummy oatmeal recipe. It’s a nutrition bomb to say the least and worth checking out.

Stay off social media.

Checking social media first thing in the morning is probably the worst way to start your day. No good comes from it, you just end up wasting your time. On top of that, there’s a 99% chance you’ll see something that you’ll compare yourself to or be envious about. After that, your mood will be crappy and you won’t get much done. My advice is – ditch your phone in the morning, focus on YOU and set your mantra for the day.

Do something for yourself.

This is as simple as it sounds. Take 15 – 20 minutes in the morning and do something for yourself. Whatever it is that will benefit you and boost your mood. Whether that’s listening to a podcast, inspirational speech or your favourite tunes. It can also be something physical, like doing yoga, sun salutations or a quick workout. The choice is yours!

Write what you’re grateful for.

If you’re reading this and think about it, there’s so many things to be grateful for. However, it’s extremely easy to take things for granted and I think a lot of us do that. People on social media tend to show only the highlights in their life which can make us jealous, angry and ungrateful.

So tomorrow when you wake up, grab a piece of paper or a journal and write down 3 things you’re grateful for. If you don’t know where to start, focus on the little things in life. Such as your health, family, a place to sleep, shower, your friends, etc. This will not only make your mornings better, but your life as well.

There you go guys, those are my 6 ways to make your mornings better. Whether you’re a morning person or not, there’s always a way to start your morning off on the right note. You just have to be dedicated and persistent.
